Prof.  Rivka Yadlin
Rivka Yadlin received her Ph.D in Middle Eastern and Islamic studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and is a sort-after speaker in public forums, as well as on radio and TV. She teaches in the department of Islamic and Middle East Studies, Hebrew University and Rothberg International School, and has been a visiting professor in numerous universities as well as scholar in residence abroad. She is a senior fellow at the Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace and has widely published on Egypt, Gender Issues, Moslem communication media and global Islam. She has presented papers at national and international conferences including: "Fragmentation and Networking in 'Information Societies': The Case of the Arab/Moslem Global Community", (2004) at the Mediterranean Social and Political Research Meeting, European University Institute, Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies; and "Networking and Transnational Identity Space in the Moslem Diaspora in the West", at the 2004 Crossroads in Cultural Studies International Conference at the University of Illinois. Her latest publications include: "Islamic Fundamentalism and Women: Repression or Channel for Political Activism?" and "Women in the Middle East between tradition and Change".
